His Light – Darkness Has Not Overcome!

Y’all, I am sitting here with a fever and a sore throat, but feeling overwhelmingly thankful for God’s goodness in my life.  Have you ever read a verse for the second (or third or 100th) time and it just jumps out at you?

That’s what happened this morning when I read John 1:5.

His light has shone in the dark recesses of my life and that darkness WILL NOT overcome His light. No matter how dark my life has been (and boy howdy, there were some pretty dark times), there is still hope. I still have hope.

And, friend, if I still have hope then YOU DEFINITELY DO!

God wants to heal the dark places in your life. Click To Tweet

He wants to bring His light into every corner of your existence.

Every. Single. Recess. Every single one!

A sweet friend of mine reminded me of all the ways light acts in our lives.

It can provide guidance on our paths.

It can nourish our bodies.

It can make things, unspeakable things, less frightening.

It can bring warmth and peace and joy and comfort.

When I first started trying to live in His light, it hurt. It was scary. Like when we walk from a dark room into the bright sunshine.

Yikes, that’s blinding and uncomfortable, at first.

But, then we get used to it and notice the warmth on our skin, the way things around us are illuminated.

God’s light is like that for our souls.

I’m praying that each of you walk into His glorious light today and the darkness in your life has NO POWER OVER YOU!

This ministered to my heart- thank you! Reminds me of the song Blackout by Steffany Gretzinger. Have you heard it?!
